The AMP Core Labs is a CAP/CLIA certified and HIPAA compliant resource that provides services in anatomic pathology. These include: routine histology (e.g., tissue processing and embedding, sectioning, histochemical staining) and automated immunohistochemistry. The Core Labs are directed and supervised by Board-certified anatomic pathologists from the Division of Anatomic and Molecular Pathology within the Department of Pathology and Immunology.

Core Description

The AMP Core Labs consists of 2 major laboratory areas. The Histology lab provides processing and embedding of animal and human tissues, H&E staining, and selected special histochemical stains. The Immunohistochemistry Lab maintains a large menu of “standard of care” antibodies that can be used to support selected translational research projects.

Access

Service available to All entities, including for-profit organizations.

Priority service for Washington University only.

Additional information:

The Core prioritizes clinical testing within the Department of Pathology and Immunology.  However, selected intra- and extra-departmental basic and translational research projects are supported by prior agreement.  The Lab emphasizes histological procedures and immunohistochemical assays. Although the facilities described on the website also include a Molecular Pathology Lab and a Digital Imaging Lab, these resources are currently limited to training in the Department. At the time of accessioning, research orders are placed in one of several queues designed to optimize workflow through the lab.
