As sponsors encourage multidisciplinary and inter-institutional outreach, externally funded projects often require expertise outside of a researcher's area of training. Washington University provides access to resources to help researchers connect with potential collaborators, both internally and externally.

Pivot (formerly COS Expertise)*
This site provides a searchable database of expertise profiles of faculty members from Washington University and other institutions. These profiles are automatically generated from publicly available information (publications, web pages, etc.). To search for profiles, log in and go to “Profiles.” If you had a COS account (for funding or expertise), you now have a Pivot account and can log in with your old COS User ID and password. If you did not have a COS account, you can register for a Pivot account with a wustl.edu email address. Since these profiles are generated without input from individuals, we highly recommend that all faculty members search for their own profiles and check their accuracy. Once you are logged in, you can “claim” and edit your profile. For assistance with Pivot, please contact Catherine Determan.
