Core Description

The Washington University Mouse Cardiovascular Phenotyping Core (MCPC) is a leading research core that was established in 1998 and currently provides approximately 4,000 surgical, imaging and functional rodent cardiovascular physiology services annually to its academic and industry partners throughout the world. With an experienced staff of 3 dedicated investigators, each with over 20 years of animal physiology experience, the MCPC provides a focused, systematic approach to the study of the basal physiology of the mouse cardiovascular system.  Key benefits of our mouse phenotyping services include validated cardiovascular phenotyping techniques and customized service. We provide consistent results using validated techniques with little experimental variation.  Investigators can begin projects with knowledge of the expected physiology and functional consequences in a variety of mouse strains. We routinely meet with investigators to discuss experimental design to help assess which procedure answers the proposed questions.  We are willing to tailor our skills to meet individual investigators’ needs. Services are available to all Washington University investigators as well as investigators at other institutions.
