Here and Next Seed Funds support interdisciplinary research activities at Washington University in St. Louis across disciplines, departments, and schools. The Seed Grant Program is designed to provide initial funding and assistance for interdisciplinary research of the highest caliber in alignment with the larger Here & Next Plan.

Housed in the Research Development Office within the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, Here & Next Seed Grants are awarded to catalyze interdisciplinary research activities in the following Priority Areas: Public Health, Global Health, Environmental Research, Digital Transformation, and Research Impacting the St. Louis Community.

Tiers of H&N Seed Grants

There are 3 tiers of Seed Grants available to Washington University faculty members.

Tier 1: Spark Funding

Tier 2: Interdisciplinary Project Support

Tier 3: University-Wide Research Initiative (URI)
