The minimum compensation for Washington University Postdoctoral Research Associates and Scholars for FY2023 will be $54,835 per year as of July 1, 2022 (per year defined as a 12-month appointment).
The postdoctoral appointee minimum compensation (salary or stipend) amount is tied to the NIH NRSA year 0 postdoctoral stipend amount with a delayed start. Therefore, the FY2023 minimum starting on July 1, 2022, will be the FY2022 Federal NIH NRSA Postdoctoral Year 0 minimum of $54,835, as indicated in the notice NOT-OD-22-108. The University does not define a compensation scale nor a maximum compensation amount for postdoctoral appointees. The NIH NRSA scale can serve as a guide for annual increases. Note that specific fellowships and training grants have stipend level requirements from the federal funding agency, and these requirements should be followed.
All postdoctoral appointees should complete an annual review with their faculty supervisor and receive compensation increases as appropriate. A template form is available on the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs Policies & Benefits webpage.
