Revised NIH Grants Policy Statement

Published April 27, 2021

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) released an updated version of their Grants Policy Statement (GPS) via NIH Guide Notice NOT-OD-21-107.

The revised GPS (dated April 2021) applies to all NIH grants and cooperative agreements with budget periods beginning on or after October 1, 2020. This new GPS supersedes, in its entirety, the NIH Grants Policy Statement (December 2019) as a standard term and condition of award.

Previous versions of the NIHGPS remain applicable as a standard term and condition for all NIH grants and cooperative agreements with budget periods that began prior to October 1, 2020.

Significant changes that are implemented with the April 2021 NIHGPS can be found in this summary document.
