Dear Research Community,
One of WashU’s cybersecurity vendors, CrowdStrike, pushed out an update last night. This software update caused a global outage affecting multiple WashU and BJC services and applications, as well as many other CrowdStrike customers.
Please be aware that lab and radiology orders may not go through if physicians order them. This global outage is affecting many downstream systems that WashU uses as well as airlines and airports. Other impacts include:
- Optum is currently down.
- BJC has closed their cafeterias since they cannot take any payments at this time.
- Many ATMs are down.
- The ASC on Ballas is down.
The vendor as well as WashU technical teams are working to resolve the issue.
Please visit WashU IT’s Status Page for the current status of this outage. Updates will be posted as they become available.
