New Masking Policy for Research Encounters

Published December 11, 2023, via Research News

Because of the rise in respiratory illness in our community, beginning Wednesday, December 13, 2023, all BJC and Washington University School of Medicine employees, volunteers, trainees, independent providers, and other health care personnel will be required to wear a medical grade mask within clinical areas. Please note that the masking requirement also applies to all patient-facing research encounters including those in research areas.

The situation will continue to be closely monitored, and policies will be adjusted as needed to protect the health and safety of all members of our community.

Sincerely,

Mark E. Lowe, MD, PhD
Vice Chancellor for Research
Senior Associate Dean for Research, School of Medicine
Harvey R. Colten Professor of Pediatric Science
