Revised NIH Grants Policy Statement and eRA Commons Retirement of the eRA Commons Quick Queries Page

NIH Grants Policy Statement (GPS)

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) released an updated version of their Grants Policy Statement (GPS) via NIH Guide Notice NOT-OD-24-115.

The revised GPS (dated April 2024) applies to all NIH grants and cooperative agreements with budget periods beginning on or after Sunday, October 1, 2023. This new GPS supersedes, in its entirety, the NIH Grants Policy Statement (December 2022) as a standard term and condition of award.

Previous versions of the NIHGPS remain applicable as a standard term and condition for all NIH grants and cooperative agreements with budget periods that began prior to Sunday, October 1, 2023.

This update incorporates new and modified requirements, clarifies certain policies, and implements changes in statutes, regulations, and policies that have been implemented through appropriate legal and/or policy processes (e.g., Federal Register Notices, where appropriate) since the previous version of the NIHGPS dated December 2022. Significant changes can be found in this summary document.

NIH eRA Commons Retirement of the eRA Commons Quick Queries Page

NIH announced, via NIH Guide Notice NOT-OD-24-111, effective Monday, June 3, 2024, the Commons Quick Queries, including Grants Pending Closeout, Progress Report Search by IPF number, IPF Number Search, and Issued Notice of (Grant) Award, will be retired to reduce redundancies and related costs across eRA systems. Access to the same data for a person’s affiliated organization is available to Commons account holders (e.g., Commons Status). NIH encourages institutions to take full advantage of other eRA tools in Commons Status and Research Performance Progress Report (RPPR) to access Award-related information. In addition, NIH encourages you to use RePORTER to obtain desired information related to organizations along with a variety of other grant related topics.
