Please join Sponsored Projects Accounting (SPA) in welcoming Matt Morgan. Matt will be joining SPA on Monday, April 15, 2024 as the new Director. He will be responsible for overseeing the sponsored financial services operations and leading the staff of 32 to provide research administration support for faculty and staff in pursuing and conducting research and other sponsored activity. This position serves as an expert for interpreting, explaining and applying governmental research regulations and sponsor policies related to financial administration. The Director is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring policies, procedures and objectives for financial research administration, including developing effective training programs.
Previously, Matt worked at the University of Kansas Medical Center in their central Sponsored Programs Administration unit as the Assistant Director. He managed the post award team, served as Grants lead on the Workday Financials system implementation, coordinated the Single Audit, and developed institutional policy pertaining to Sponsored Programs activities in accordance with federal guidelines, among other duties.
